Stellar Football Club's philosophy at the Academy level is focused on individual player development over team development. This means incorporating the appropriate developmental techniques at the right developmental stages tailored to individual needs. Most importantly travel is limited in favor of more opportunity to develop players. We strongly cover fundamentals as we progress our players into their Select stages.
We also use a concept called bio-banding where we align players with their physical development along with their chronological development.
These concepts are largely counter-club culture and important features that differentiate Stellar from other club programs. Stellar's vision and approach is first of it's kind statewide.

Stellar Coaches are composed of experienced players, technical trainers and on field leaders. Our coaches are unique in the sense that all Stellar Coaches are current or former high level players, highly technical trainers and are tactical leaders. We also boast a lower coach to player ratio.
All clubs and levels of play have coaches but not all coaches are qualified to train technical skills, manage games tactically and lead young players with confidence.
If you are evaluating clubs and notice your potential coach is not leading technical sessions, it should be a question. Technical coaches create technical players. There's no substitute. It's how we know our coaches are truly are Stellar.
At the Academy level we focus our competition internally for the majority of a season and plan to compete monthly in external tournaments. This equates to less weekly travel, more time to develop individually and more flexibility on scaling external competition as needed. We can increase or decrease competition levels regularly. This is also dependent on where our players are and how their team dynamic is developing.
This is where Stellar takes a stand to focus on the player versus the club and registration numbers.
It's worth noting that large team rosters and regular league play is large an American method of soccer and is not practiced globally. Most countries do not engage in league play or larger team sizes until later ages (Late Middle school or high School). Most countries all use small sided play, similar to Stellar for their development approach. Small spaces equates to more touches and higher levels of development opportunity.
In-house teams are selected to create the most challenging competition levels and minimizing players in the sideline. Players will compete regularly in our Match Day concept. This is a small-sided + team competition event. This is another feature that differentiator and another concept Stellar is confidently pioneering.
Tournament teams are selected monthly to provide additional opportunity for player competition engagement and levels. Tournament team selection is not guaranteed for every player and largely depends on their individual skill, development, attendance and roster availability.
External Friendlies and Tournaments are planned for the Central Texas region. Competitions outside the region may occur if critical mass and interest exists.
Our outdoor soccer program for any seasonal year runs from August through April. We plan for a minimum of two tournaments in the Fall and two in the Spring. Off season are the months between Fall and Spring. In between seasons we do special programming, training, indoor competition and additional tournaments that are not included in regular season fees.
